Esther is a licensed therapist providing counseling, training and consultation in the Bay Area.
Esther was born in the Midwest to a large family and was from an early age “pegged” as a people person. She was always fascinated by the learning process and holistic approaches to growth. Esther studied, gained certifications and taught yoga and holistic health practices and she continues to practice and teach these tools. She became interested in communication as the focus of talk therapy and she embraces a view of health that includes relationships and communication, beyond the individual. She received a masters of science in educational psychology and marriage and family therapy. While in graduate school she got connected with Brief therapy and has been training, practicing and consulting in Brief Therapy practices ever since.
Esther has conducted research on the intersection between yoga and brief therapy for kids and teens. She has also contributed to published books on creative therapy approaches with Karin Schlanger.
Esther believes people are best served when we look at them and their contexts as a whole, rather than treating people as if they fit in different boxes. She believes that all people face obstacles from time to time and often lose sight of our resources, context and need tools and people to help us move forward. Therapy with Esther is based in a solid therapeutic alliance, in building a productive way of looking at life and cultivating behavior in a way that creates sustainable growth.
